The Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Latvia (IMCS UL) is the cooperation partner of this project.
The CZ.NIC Association, an operator of the .CZ national domain and the Czech National Security Team CSIRT.CZ, started implementing the international CyberExchange project at the beginning of November. The aim of the project, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union, is to strengthen mutual cooperation of national and government CSIRTs/CERTs. There are 10 European countries participating in the CyberExchange project and its implementation is planned for 2 years.
“We highly value the trust that the European Commission representatives put into us, as well as that of our colleagues from security teams from more than a third of EU countries. This activity enables us to capitalize on our experience in the field of European projects, including positive perception of the CZ.NIC Association and the CSIRT.CZ security team by other security teams,“ stated Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.
The CyberExchange project reacts to the increasing threats in the cybersecurity area and the necessity of cross-border cooperation in the fight against them. At the same time, it aims to increase the staff expertise of the eleven national and government security teams from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Latvia (IMCS UL), Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
During the CyberExchange project staff exchange will be implemented, during which the members of individual teams will exchange experience and strengthen their expertise. The project also focusses on supporting the implementation of software tools developed by an individual team so that it could be used by a wider security community and in the fight against cyber threats also in other countries. In that way the project shall supplement the MeliCERTes platform, which represents one of the so-called building blocks of cross-border digital service infrastructure. On top of that, the project plans cooperation with the national safer Internet centres aimed at sharing of ideas and awareness raisingmaterials on safe use of information technologies.
